SeaCommander Boats was formed by Dave Hix and Dallas Reeves in 2007 after they purchased an existing 15-year-old boat building business and remodeled it with a touch of their own style. Having fished and dived the Cook Strait for 35 years, they recognised a need in the market for high quality, custom made aluminium boats. The pair were on the water one day when their combined inspiration and imagination set in motion the first steps towards a new hull design concept. Employing the services of a naval architect, the inspiration became reality and SeaCommander Boats evolved.

The innovative 'Deep V' hull design without doubt became the SeaCommander trademark. The 'Deep V' hull on the water, provides the skipper and crew with superb sea-handling characteristics, gliding through a heading sea with ease, whilst the exposed keel bar offers unsurpassed responsiveness and manoeuvrability in trailing seas and incredible stability when at rest.

Our philosophy is to work together with the owner to create a high quality vessel, ensuring the expectations of both parties are not only met but exceeded. This philosophy, coupled with our unwavering after sales service is of paramount importance to us. SeaCommander Boats are built by HR Engineering (also locally owned and operated by Dave & Dallas since 2005). Our tight-knit team of highly skilled and experienced boat builders functions within a purpose built facility on the HR Engineering premises. We are fully equipped to deliver a high-class product featuring only the finest quality workmanship.
